Mending Histories, curated by Sesalli Castillo, features local Portland artists as they explore themes of migration and assimilation. Featuring artists: Adriene Cruz, Bridgette Hickey, Marquishia Winters, Sesalli Castillo, Syon Davis.

The show seeks to investigate what it means to tap into ancestral practices of resilience, while sifting through the holes in knowledge, information and skills that come along with decades of lost history from secrets kept within different generations of family members in a grasp for safety.

These secrets, along with the illusion of acceptance that assimilation brings, has led to lost skills, recipes and medicine along family lines. This show unveils the fumbling many of us are doing to reclaim these pieces of our history.

We hope you can see your own stories within the work, engage in your own questions about lineage as we work together to create practices to get us through this time.
